The A. W. Brown-Fellowship Leadership academy is an original open-enrollment leadership academy as provided by Texas Education Code, Chapter 12, Subchapter D. 12.101(b). The Brown-Fellowship school admits students of any race, color, or national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities of the school.

In March of each school year, Notification of Return cards will be sent home with each enrolled student. The card for each returning student must be returned to the school office no later than the last day of March in order for the student's name to be placed on a roster for the upcoming school year.

Applications from new students are accepted from January 7th through June 1st. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of vacancies, then a lottery will be conducted June 1st. During the lottery process, computer randomly selects all completed and accepted applications submitted from January 7th through June 1st until capacity is reached. Lottery selectees shall be notified of their selection by phone or postcard. The remaining names shall be placed on the waiting list.

A. W. Brown-Fellowship does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, or national and ethnic origin, ethnicity, religion, disability, academic, artistic, or athletic ability, or the district the child would otherwise attend. TEC, §12.111(a)(6)
