Health Services

Welcome! The A.W. Brown Health Services Department is a service provided to nurture and facilitate a daily healthy environment through
a partnership with the school, children, and parents. We strive to educate and promote wellness and healthy lifestyles to ensure
that students are prepared for a successful academic school and life experience.

School Nurses provide the following services:

 

  • State Immunization compliance and enforcement
       
  • Monitor immunization compliance
       
  • Perform vision, hearing and spinal screenings
       
  • Health and Physical Assessment/ State Required Screening
       
  • Basic First Aid and Crisis Intervention
       
  • Acute and Chronic disease management
       
  • Communicable Disease guidelines
       
  • Medication administration
       
  • Skilled nursing care and procedures
       
  • Assess and evaluate overall student health
       
  • Plan action for elimination, minimization or acceptance of health problems
       
  • Provide information and referral for health/emotional concerns
       
  • Provide selected health services for staff
       
  • Provide assessment, triage, and care of sick and injured students and staff
       
  • Observe school facilities and recommend modifications to maintain optimum health and safety of students and staff
       
  • Administer medications
       
  • Follow-up concerns regarding student and community health
       
  • Provide education on a variety of health topics to students, families, and staff
       
  • Other health care and education­ related responsibilities as needed/discovered
